Grant Program - Project Manager

General Description

The Project Manager of the Grant Program is responsible for a single project within the grant program. This may entail researching, writing and/or editing grant applications.  

 

Responsibilities

Researching:

  • Familiarity with NARAP’s programs, goals and financial needs

  • Develop prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and overall fundraising strategies

  • Research and data collection for both grant prospects and grant applications

  • Use both standard and novel prospect research techniques and tools to identify new prospects and complete donor background requests, including periodical and electronic screening and/or information provided by the prospect or his/her organization

  • Create profile reports tailored to needs of individual philanthropy programs

  • Safeguard the confidentiality of donor information

  • Adhere to ethical and confidentiality guidelines

  • Maintain the professional and ethical standards set forth for the field by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA)

 

Writing:

  • Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources, including budget preparation

  • Comply with grant reporting required by funding agency

 

Follow-up:

  • Maintain grant application records including grants applied to, status of application and grant deadline

  • Maintain records of all payments and receivables and prepare monthly records for all grant related activities

  • Assistance in grant reporting after grant is awarded

 

Skills and Experience

  • Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.

  • Strong editing skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of fundraising information sources

  • Experience with proposal writing and institutional donors

  • Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research

  • Strong contributor in team environments

  • Strong understanding of non-profit grant budgets

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience with grant writing.

  • Experience working in deadline-driven environments.

  • Able to work well in a team environment, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
